A Director of Crest Energy says its tidal turbine project in Kaipara Harbour is legitimate, and should go ahead despite opposition from local Maori who have imposed a rahui or customary ban over the harbour; The Wairoa District Council's turned down a request from a local marae, which wants financial help to pay the eight- thousand dollar cost of insuring its buildings; A west Auckland Kohanga Reo teacher fears many Maori traditions could slowly be squeezed out, if the Ministry of Education continues to manage the pre-schools; Organisers of Auckland's 37th Polyfest which begins today, have brought in top kapa haka judges to help raise standards on the Maori stage.
