A Director of Crest Energy says its tidal turbine project in Kaipara Harbour is legitimate, and should go ahead despite opposition by local Maori, who have imposed a rahui or customary ban over the harbour; The Wairoa District Council's turned down a request from a local marae, which applied for a grant to help pay its eight-thousand dollar insurance bill; A west Auckland Kohanga Reo teacher fears many Maori traditions could be squeezed out, if the Ministry of Education continues to manage the 480 pre-schools; Organisers of Auckland's Polyfest which begins today, have brought in top kapa haka judges to help raise standards on the Maori stage.
