A fifteen year fight - to build the first kura kaupapa Maori or Maori language immersion school at the top of the South Island - is nearly over; More than a million dollars has been granted to a Maori research unit to develop international guidelines on how Maori human tissue is harvested, stored and used in treatments; A tourism operator in Kaikoura who's joined a Maori delegation to China to strengthen economic links predicts the group's work will help fund the Christchurch rebuild; A ten-thousand nautical mile waka voyage that will make history by retracing the journeys of Maori ancestors almost failed due to lack of money.
