The Government says there are signs of good progress being made with Treaty settlement negotiations with Tuhoe; Accusations that a Crown agent and a senior Maori welfare manager had a personal dislike for each other have been made at a hearing into the axing of a valuable social services contract; An Auckland iwi says an interim Waitangi Tribunal report is right to dismisses some public criticism that a Maori water rights claim was opportunist; There's a warning that Maori girls with special needs will suffer if the Government shuts down their school - because mainstream schools won't be able to offer the same level of service.
