The Labour Party MP, Shane Jones, sung a waiata in Parliament yesterday as part of a tribute to his late colleague, Parakura Horomia; An organisation dedicated to developing the skills of Maori healthworkers says not enough Maori nurses are trained to give advice over the telephone; Department of Conservation staff on Rekohu, or the Chatham Islands, are working on a strategy to educate people about the importance of the last remaining Kopi trees; Water Safety New Zealand says young Maori are saving lives thanks to the survival skills they're learning in a portable pool the organisation is taking to different parts of the country.
