Mayor backs dam proposal despite catastrophe warning

An unpublicised report by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council says as many as a thousand people in the small town of Waipawa could be killed if dam proposed to be built thirty five kilometres north west of the town were to rupture in an earthquake.
