Dame Kiri to retire from opera

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is about to take her final operatic curtain call. Dame Kiri has announced that her cameo role in a comic opera on now in London will be her swansong on the main stage. It's forty-four years since she first sang at Covent Garden, and Dame Kiri turns 70 today.
