Ratatat
Brooklyn-based instrumentalists Ratatat have channelled the guitar histrionics of Queen’s resident astrophysicist, Dr Brian May, on their fifth studio LP, Magnifique. Ratatat multi-instrumentalist  Mike Stroud tells us about taking cues from rock’n’roll royalty.

Ladi6 - The Alpha Sessions
Ladi6 has embarked on a residency at Auckland and Wellington institution, The Matterhorn, crewing with her go-to players Parks, Julien Dyne and Brendon Haru plus a series of special guests. Ladi talks to Sam Wicks about using the month-long stint to workshop new ideas and get her match fitness up.

MUM Club
Situated up a flight of stairs off Auckland’s Vulcan Lane, Cassette Nine's MUM Club has been a staple of the city’s Friday nightlife for the past seven years. Zac Arnold talks to the personalities who have curated the club night with international acts like METZ, BadBadNotGood and Unknown Mortal Orchestra alongside local talent.

Phil Dadson: Sonics From Scratch
The sonic explorations of From Scratch founder and intermedia artist Phil Dadson are explored in Simon Ogston and Orlando Stewart’s documentary, Phil Dadson: Sonics From Scratch, playing at this year’s NZIFF. Emma Smith meets up with the man at the centre of the doco to talk about his lifetime of adventures in sound.

Deathgasm
Deathgasm, a homegrown horror comedy, has been hailed as a cult classic since its release overseas earlier this year. Part Evil Dead, part Braindead, the gory splatter-fest is a headbanging homage to all that is over the top about heavy metal and horror. Craig Hayes catches up with Deathgasm director Jason Lei Howden to discuss guitars and gore.

Introverted Dancefloor
Introverted Dancefloor is the latest alias of Bevan Smith, who has previously released material as Aspen, Signer, Skallander and Over the Atlantic. Under his new moniker, Smith has just released a new single 'Happiness is Such a Mess'. Yadana Saw asks why it has been so long since we've heard from him and how Smith manages to keep generating new musical personas.
