Illmatic, the debut album by New York rapper Nas, is widely considered one of the greatest hip hop albums ever recorded.

Released on April 19th 1994, the album graphically conveyed the experiences of street life within the housing projects of Queensbridge like no rap album had done so prior.

It was also famously given the prestigious five mic rating by The Source upon its release.
