Musical Chairs - Sir Howard Morrison (Part Two)

From Musical Chairs, 1:30 pm on 18 August 2001

For more than four decades Howard Morrison has been an icon of New Zealand  entertainment. As a teenager he tried his hand at meter reading, being a freezing worker  and a rugby player - but soon realised showbiz was where his heart lay - and  the rest his history.

From the enormous success of the Howard Morrison Quartet in the 60's, to a  long and distinguished solo career, Howard Morrison's trademark has been his  ability to mix music, humour and Maori culture - making him one of this  country's most famous and long standing entertainers.

In a two part Musical Chairs programme, Howard Morrison looks over his  entertainment career. In PArt Two Sir Howard looks back on his long and successful solo career from the time the Quartet broke up in 1964.
