He made his name playing keys for Pluto and later Night Choir. He's also the first person Gin calls when she's in town, a hard gig to hold down as Gin demands a lot of technique from her pianists. Yet Matthias Jordan didn't set out to become a top-draw session-man. When he moved to Auckland in the early '90s he had hoped to begin a solo career. 20 years later he's releasing his debut EP The Sound Of Asia, a close collaboration with guitarist and producing gun Jol Mulholland. Nick Atkinson headed down to Matthias Jordan's live solo debut at a stylish bar in Auckland's trendiest suburb.
