In the 80's he was the charismatic vocalist with the Mockers and penned an enviable strike rate of enduring hit singles.
He later published 2 autobiographies and a number of poetry books while also making a number of remarkable solo sea voyages in his tiny 5.4m plywood sloop called Swirly.
