Dimmer is the brainchild of ex Straitjacket Fits/Bored Games/Doublehappys guitarist and vocalist, Shayne Carter. He performed live at RNZ's now-defunct Helen Young Studio in 2004 with musicians including Anika Moa, Mike Hall of Pluto and Andy Morton AKA Submariner.

Since its inception in 1994, Dimmer have released four critically acclaimed albums, all of which have been nominated for NZ Music Awards. The band wound up in 2012 with Shayne now performing solo, releasing piano-based album, Offsider in 2017.

For this 2004 performance at RNZ’s Helen Young Studio Shayne is joined by Willie Scott on drums, Mike hall on bass, Ned Ngatae on guitar, Andy Morton (AKA Submariner) on keys, Heather Mansfield (of the Brunettes) on glockenspiel and Anika Moa on guitar and backing vocals.
