11:05 Marty Duda's Artist of the Week: Calexico

Joey Burns and John Convertino began Calexico in the mid-1990s as an offshoot of Howe Gelb's Giant Sand. The two musicians set up shop in Arizona and assembled a group of like-minded musicians to make a unique blend of mariachi, jazz, rock, country and Latin American music. The band began making mostly instrumental music, but has evolved into vocal-oriented songs with plenty of space for the musicians to paint their pictures.
