Finnish Clarinettist Kari Kriikku is celebrated for his inventiveness and his ability to cross a huge range of genres - his latest album Bizarre Bazaar includes clarinet music styles ranging from Jewish Klezmer, to Portuguese Fado, Argentinean Tango and Arab music.
Kari Kriikku has been the artistic director of Avanti! Chamber Orchestra since 1998, and is part of the orchestra's more experimental group, 'HumppAvanti!', in which he incorporates his skills as a drummer and on the 5-stringed Bluegrass banjo.
Kari Kriikku is in New Zealand to perform a series of concerts with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
