Guy Standing is a Professor of Economic Security University of Bath, UK and the co-president, Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN). Dr Standing contends that there are a growing number of people around the world who live in social and economic insecurity, without occupational identities, drifting in and out of jobs and constantly worried about their incomes and housing. He says unless the cries from the precariat are acknowledged the unrest that has been seen in streets of Greece, Spain, and England will spread. His latest book is The Precariat : the new dangerous class.
