Under the government's Healthy Homes initiative, tenants with high health needs, such as respiratory illness or risk of rheumatic fever, can be referred for an help with insulation, heating, carpeting and curtains – but The Sustainability Trust says only a fifth of landlords are carrying out the improvements. Kathryn Ryan talks to the trust's chief executive Paul Squire, and Otago University's Professor of Public Health, Phillipa Howden-Chapman. She is director of He Kainga Oranga/ Housing and Health Research Programme and the New Zealand Centre for Sustainable Cities.

She's been in dozens of theatre productions, and is well known on screen for her roles in Boy, Eagle vs Shark, Whale Rider, and White Lies, as well as Hunt for the Wilderpeople. She was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her contribution to performing arts earlier this year.
