09:05 NGO pulls out of family violence pilot over safety concerns

A women's refuge group which was a key part of a family violence pilot has walked away from signing a new contract because of concerns for its staff. The  Integrated Safety Response pilot or ISR pilot began in Waikato and Christchurch in 2016 - it's being led by the police and involves many government agencies and specialist family violence non-government organisations. Now AVIVA - formerly the Christchurch Women's Refuge - says it will no longer be part of the programme. Kathryn speaks with its CEO, Nicola Woodward and Jan Logie MP, the under secretary to the minister of justice, responsible for Domestic and Sexual Violence.

09:20 Wood-first initiative sought for NZ construction

The adoption of a 'wood-first' policy is starting to gain traction in New Zealand, and around the world, encouraging more businesses and government agencies to use natural, timber-based construction. It's part of an effort to tackle climate change by using a naturally renewable and abundant resource that reduces carbon emissions, as well as the time and cost of construction. Kathryn speaks with the campaign manager for Make It Wood, David Rowlinson, and the chief executive of the Wood Processors and Manufacturers Association, Jon Tanner.

Thankyou has a range of 38 consumer products, from bottled water, to skin and babycare sold in major retail stores, with 100 per cent of the profits going to sanitation, child and maternal health programs in developing countries. Thankyou is poised to launch in New Zealand.

Fonterra chief executive Theo Spierings has resigned and will step down later this year. His resignation comes on the same day Fonterra announced a first half loss of $348 million, largely due to its troubled Beingmate investment in China, in addition to damages paid to its rival, Danone. The loss for the six months ended September compares with a profit of $413 million a year ago. Our business editor, Gyles Beckford, has been covering the half year result.
