09:05 Dramatic Thai cave rescue: 'Many big challenges remain'

All 12 members of the Thai youth football team and their coach who went missing in a cave network in the north of the country have been found alive, nine days after they disappeared.  Recent footage, released by the Thai Navy, shows the emaciated boys asking for food and thanking their rescuers. But many challenges remain. Anmar Mirza, is a leading American cave rescue expert, who has had limited communication with some of the rescuers in Thailand.

09:20 Spotting kauri dieback from the sky

Plant pathologists here have been trying to get an eye-in-the-sky project off the ground that would use airborne cameras and thermal imaging detectors to map at risk trees, long before symptoms are visible to the human eye. But so far  the funding bid has been rejected. The technology has already been successfully used in Australia for 10 years to arrest the spread of serious tree diseases. Meanwhile, in Italy a devastating and fast-spreading infection known as Xylella fastidiosa, that's killing some of its iconic olive trees is also being detected from the air. Dr Ian Horner, is a plant pathologist heading the Plant & Food Research team trying to protect kauri trees. Associate Professor Paul Barber is from the forest health management company ArborCarbon.

10:05  Conrad Anker: ice, rock and mountain climber extraordinaire

Conrad Anker has been described as America's best all-round alpinist. He's a rock climber, ice climber and big peak mountain climber, having summited Everest numerous times - without oxygen, and a peaks on many continents around the world, including Antarctica - as recently as last December. In 1999, on an expedition to Mt Everest, he discovered the body of George Mallory - 75 years after his disappearance. He is widely known for the succesful ascent of the Shark's Fin route on Meru Peak in the Himalayas with fellow climbers Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk - documented by photographer Chin, and made into the award winning film Meru. He's in Wanaka for the Mountain Film and Book Festival.
