Dr Leroy Hood is one of the world's leading scientists in genomics, who led the team that invented the DNA sequencer, the equipment that made possible the mapping of the human genome. Dr Leroy Hood, is also a pioneer in molecular biotechnology. Dr Hood and his team created the equipment that would read, and begin to unravel the mysteries, of the 25-thousand genes of human DNA, in the Human Genome Project. Dr Leroy Hood pioneering inventions were made at the California Institute of Technology, or Caltec.
