Historian reinvestigates 1872 hanging of Kereopa te Rau

From Nine To Noon, 11:20 am on 8 July 2014

Historian and author Peter Wells reinvestigates the history, facts, and social, political and racial tensions underpinning the 1872 hanging of Kereopa Te Rau for the murder for Carl Volkner. Wells has used the writings of William Colenso and Mother Suzanne Aubert as sources in his new book about the case, "Journey to a Hanging". He explains what the Crown's 2014 apology for the execution of Te Rau means for the case, and where uncertainties still lie.
