While men benefit from the lions share of TV coverage, top whack salaries and the best sponsorship deals - it's slim pickings for their female counterparts.

So how can that cycle be broken ?

Kathryn Ryan talks to The Northern Mystics Chief Executive, Julie Paterson who runs netball in Auckland, and sports academic Professor Sarah Leberman who have been instrumental in the setting up  of Women in Sport Aotearoa, New Zealand's first national organisation challenging inequity in sport.
