Informed consent, or patient consent is a vital component for anyone being treated in the medical system, but sometimes practice is falling short of what is ethically acceptable.
Research published recently in the New Zealand Medical Journal revealed that some Auckland med-school students were expected to perform sensitive examinations on patients - without the patients knowledge that they were not qualified doctors.
