The Court of Appeal has heard Melanie Trevethick's case re-litigating the discrepancy between ACC and Health funding. Melanie Trevethick - who heads up the coalition Equity for Illness - sees people whose impairment is not injury related as the poor cousins of those who're on ACC. She says that inequity is discriminatory. That's because whether it's through Health or ACC the level of assistance is based on the cause of impairment and not the needs of the person, which are often identical. Melanie Trevethick says she's not giving up on the fight. That's because there're too many areas where ACC gives you a better deal than the Ministry of Health system.
