I'm at the Perth Convention Centre. Perched on the banks of the Swann river, the Centre's playing host to the annual Australasian Mental Health Services gathering for 2009. Several interviews have been lined up for me - and we'll carry them over the next few months.

But in one of those serendipitous moments, I happen on someone who's got a very different take on mental illness. On tonight's programme I'm in conversation with Professor Judy Atkinson - director of the Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples at Southern Cross University in New South Wales. Judy Atkinson says her approach is governed by her own experience.
