He is an associate editor at New America Media and a regular contributor to a number of online publications, including The Hutchinson Political Report, a blog on race and politics in America. Playwright, screen writer, fiction writer and stand-up comic Duncan Sarkies is best known for co-writing (with his director brother, Robert) the 1999 hit New Zealand film Scarfies. He has written eight plays, and turned his 1999 Montana Award-winning collection of prose pieces, Stray Thoughts and Nosebleeds (VUP, ISBN: 0-86473-382-8; now out of print), into a touring performance piece with slides, under the title Wild Man Eyes. His debut novel, Two Little Boys (Penguin ISBN: 978-0-14-302091-2), will be published on 3 March; a launch party for the book will be held during the 2008 New Zealand International Arts Festival.

Sébastien Soldevilla is the ringmaster of the troupe Les 7 Doigts de la Main (The 7 Fingers of the Hand), founded in Montreal in 2002 by seven seasoned circus performers. They present two shows during the 2008 New Zealand International Arts Festival: Traces, conceived in collaboration with five young performers, runs from 10-16 March; La Vie runs nightly (except Mondays) to 16 March. The performers will also give an Art Talk on 12 March.

Gregory Maguire is the author of four novels for adults and more than a dozen novels for children. His 1995 novel, Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (HarperCollins, ISBN 9780060987107), has been developed as a big-budget Broadway musical. He works as a consultant in creative writing for children, and is a founder and co-director of Children's Literature New England, a non-profit educational charity established in 1987.
