8:30 Stuart Dryburgh

Stuart Dryburgh worked as a gaffer on a number of key New Zealand films (including Smash Palace, Goodbye Pork Pie and Vigil), and as cinematographer for An Angel at My Table, Once Were Warriors, In My Father's Den, and The Piano. Since the mid-1990s he has worked as cinematographer or director of photography on many Hollywood productions (recent films The Painted Veil and Nim's Island are both currently screening in New Zealand). He was one of 17 world-class cinematographers recruited by director Martin Scorsese for his Rolling Stones concert movie, Shine a Light. The film receives a limited release season from 29 May on New Zealand's biggest screens in Auckland (Imax), Wellington (Embassy) and Christchurch (Cinemaxx Riccarton).

9:05 Max Gimblett

Max Gimblett is one of New Zealand's most internationally prominent and successful artists, living and working on the Bowery in New York for over 30 years. A practicing Buddhist and Jungian, he has returned to New Zealand to discuss a 2009 exhibition in Nelson, launch the exhibition Everlastingness at Page Blackie Gallery in Wellington on 27 May (to 21 June), and make an announcement with the Auckland Art Gallery. He has just been named as the first New Zealander to have work featured at New York's Guggenheim Museum. American Art and the East, a masterpiece show featuring works by canonical figures of the 20th century and leading younger artists working today, will open in January 2009 as a centerpiece of the museum's fiftieth anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright building, and travel to the US West Coast, Asia, and Europe through 2010.

9:40 Jan McLeod and Graham Jackson

Jan McLeod and Graham Jackson live in the Mianyang area of the Sichuan province of China, which was severely affected by the country's worst natural disaster in 30 years. The earthquake destroyed the town of Beichuan, which is the only autonomous Qiang county in China, with a local government made up of minority peoples. Graham and Jan are working with the New Zealand China Friendship Society to help with the relief effort for survivors of the earthquake.

Simon Phillips is a graduate of the New Zealand Drama School, and was appointed Artistic Director and CEO of the Melbourne Theatre Company in 1999. He is the director of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert; The Musical, which opens at Auckland's Civic Theatre on 25 May and runs to 29 June.

Tina Matthews was born in Wellington, and has worked as a puppet maker, bass player, teacher, artist and designer. She lives with her family in Sydney, where she writes and illustrates books for children. Her 2007 picture book, Out of the Egg (Walker Books, ISBN: 9781921150357), won the Best First Book award at the 2008 New Zealand Post Book Awards.
