David Marr is one of Australia's most respected journalists, and the award-winning author of several books, including Patrick White: a Life, His Master's Voice: the Corruption of Public Debate Under Howard, and Dark Victory, an account of the 2001 Australian election campaign. His new book, The Henson Case (Text Publishing, ISBN: 9781921520037), explores the controversy that exploded over the Sydney exhibition of photographs of naked adolescent models by Bill Henson, one of Australia's most significant artists.

Derek Lardelli is regarded as one of New Zealand's finest ta moko artists, and is also known as a visual artist, carver, kapa haka performer, composer, graphic designer, researcher of whakapapa, tribal history, and kaikorero. He is currently principal tutor at Toihoukura (Visual Art and Design School) at Tairawhiti Polytechnic in Gisborne, and is the chairperson of Te Uhi A Mataora Ta Moko Arts collective, and a trustee of Toi Maori Aotearoa. Derek travelled to the United States for the Celebration of Maori Art and Culture event at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco - de Young Museum from 10 to 12 October, and was a participant at the traditional Maori Dawn Ceremony on 15 October at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, DC, for the travelling Te Papa exhibition Whales Tohora (to 18 January 2009).

Dr Anne Buckingham Young is a world-renowned expert in Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases. She is Chief of the Neurology Service at Massachusetts General Hospital, Julieanne Dorn Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and the Founder and Scientific Director of MIND, the MassGeneral Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease. With her late husband, John B. Penney, Jr., she provided the most widely cited model of basal ganglia function, the springboard for testing novel interventions in Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases and related disorders. Dr Young visited New Zealand for a lecture tour courtesy of the Freemasons Roskill Foundation.

Tickets have sold out for her public lecture at Wellington Zoo on Saturday 18 October.
