8:15 Fatima Bhutto

Journalist and commentator Fatima Bhutto writes for the New Statesman and the Daily Beast. Her father Murtaza Bhutto, an elected member of parliament and son of Pakistan's former President and Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was killed by the police in 1996 during the premiership of his sister, Benazir Bhutto. Fatima is the author of a 1997 volume of poetry, Whispers of the Desert (Oxford University Press), and a collection of first-hand accounts from survivors of the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan 8.50 a.m. 8 October 2005 (Oxford University Press). Her new book, Songs of Blood and Sword: a Daughter's Memoir (Jonathan Cape, ISBN: 978-0-224-08754-4), has just been published.

Mary Kisler is the Mackelvie Curator of International Art at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki. She will discuss selected works from the gallery's exhibition Local Revolutionaries: Art & Change 1965-1986 (to 30 April 2011). Mary's book, Angels & Aristocrats: Early European Art in New Zealand Public Collections, will be published by Random House in October. Rowan Simpson is a software developer, business person and investor. In 1999 he started a website called Flathunt which he sold the following year in exchange for some shares in a small but promising company called Trade Me, where he became its third employee. Since leaving Trade Me in 2007, Rowan has been involved in a number of other technology start-ups, including Xero, Fishpond, Sonar6 and, most recently, Vend. He maintains a blog at RowanSimpson.com.
