Up at Grammar Farm

Mount Albert Grammar School has one of Auckland's most elegant campuses… neo-Gothic buildings and an avenue of old English deciduous trees. But what makes this 80-year-old school unique in Auckland, is its farm out the back. The eight hectares nestle on the north slopes of Mount Albert, one of the dressier addresses in Auckland.

David Steemson spends first period on a Friday morning with a class of boys and girls who're putting into practice on the farm what they learn in theory in the classroom. He's also there while farm manager Larnie Palmer deals with a crowd of thirty kindergarten kids who've come to milk a dairy cow and feed the lambs, calves, pigs and chooks.
