Gill HanleyGill Hanly takes photographs to record and document people and events. She doesn't manipulate or pose. You'll find her working quietly away up at Waitangi most years on February 6th. She was at Ed Hillary's funeral too looking for shots that would be different from those taken by the press scrum. She gave an album of her pictures to the Hillary family.

Now in her seventies, Gil has worked behind a still camera for forty years. Gil, the widow of artist Pat Hanly, was declared a living legend by the Auckland City Council three years ago. This year there's an exhibition of her photos of the peace movement at Auckland Museum . You'll come across her work in numerous gardening books too… another interest. "But I'm not really very professional ", she laughs," because I don't make a good living. But I do have a good time".
