The 8th of March marks International Women’s Day, an event celebrated around the world to mark the achievements of women. While women may have been granted equal social and political rights in many countries, very little seems to have changed in some religious communities.

Jane Little speaks to women who have broken the mould and taken on religious leadership roles which are traditionally dominated by men.

We hear from Chandrika Joshi, a female Hindu priest who is also a special-needs dentist and lives in Cardiff in Wales.

Female imam, Halima Krausen, leads prayers in a mixed congregation in Hamburg in Germany. And Colette Joyce from London has been convinced since.
