Insight looks at the second report from research by the University of Auckland, which is following a group of children for two decades from birth to find out more about their health and well being, education, psychological and cognitive development, the child's neighbourhood and environment, and culture and identity. Teresa Cowie spent time with some of the families as the first report came out and she returns to find out what has been happening since then.

He recently visited New Zealand to give lectures on the theme ‘Vandals at the Gate - the privatisation of education in New Zealand and around the world’, and talks to Chris about how the commercialisation of tertiary education is changing the nature of universities.

In our occasional series on New Zealanders overseas, Chris talks to physicist Mark Kruse who went to Penrose High School and now does research on the experiments involving the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, trying to find out how the universe was formed. Mark has the happy knack of making physics accessible to those of us who can’t get our head around the subject, and talks to Chris about trying to answer the big philosophical questions about our existence.

This week Chris is joined by Ian and Michael and Colin Tukuitonga, the chief executive of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs who grew up in Niue, to discuss colonisation and independence in Niue, and the unique story of the Kingdom of Tonga.
