Scott Bennett - Pozieres and the ANZAC Story

From Sunday Morning, 10:06 am on 24 April 2011

In 2003 Australian Scott Bennett visited the Great War battlefields in France and Belgium to retrace the steps of his great uncles who had fought there. One of these battlefields was Pozieres in France. In 1916 one million men fought in the first battle of the Somme and victory hinged on their ability to capture the small village of Pozieres. The British called in the ANZACs and in July thousands of Australians stormed the ridge - 23,000 of them died in the battle. Scott talked to Chris about the fight for Pozieres.
