A Motiti Island hapu says a beacon should be put on the spot where the container ship Rena ran aground to prevent another disaster occurring; Ngati Kahungunu is accusing the government of bowing down to big business by changing legislation about Foreign Charter Vessles, which it says is reducing tribal fishing quota by up to 100-million-dollars; The Ministry of Primary Industries has responded saying the measures are not about bowing down but it suggests they put more pressure on fishery companies to meet extra requirements; The Hamilton City Council says King Tuheitia and his advisors will closely examine a bronze sculpture of the first Maori King before deciding whether to accept the artwork and gifting it to Hamilton City Council.
