The last debate

From The House , 10:35 pm on 17 August 2017

MPs have given thanks to the cleaners, the caterers, the candlestick makers... maybe not the last one, but the last piece of business in the House was a chance for MPs to say farewell, thank you and good luck.

Its official title is the adjournment debate and traditionally it's an opportunity to show gratitude to all the people who have supported MPs during the Parliamentary term.

But it's also a time for party leaders and MPs to throw last minute jabs at the other side and promote their own election messages.
