Debating the PM’s statement

From The House , 6:50 pm on 12 February 2019

No question time today or general debate tomorrow as MPs participate in a debate on the Prime Minister's Statement.

In non-election years the Prime Minister delivers a paper to the House outlining their Government’s plan for the year and then the House sets thirteen hours aside to debate it. If they vote against her plan, the Government falls.

The leader of the House Chris Hipkins explains the process to Phil Smith.
