He's from the gold-mining town of Cripple Creek, Colorado. The Dixon family have been ranchers in the area since the gold-digging boom went bust. But Wilson has escaped the picturesque yet hard life of the cowboy to travel the world performing at Comedy Festivals and the like. The Music Mix hosts Wilson Dixon as he plays his unique style of down-home music recorded live in Radio New Zealand's Auckland studios. You can catch Wilson Dixon's American Dream show as part of the International Comedy Festival this May.
Song writer and author John Darnielle was in New Zealand recently with his band The Mountain Goats. Darnielle was one of the contributors for the double album Stroke: Songs For Chris Knox. He sights Knox as a continual source of inspiration. Music Mix presenter Nick Atkinson had him play a very moving handful of songs in Radio New Zealand's Auckland studios. Listen here!
