The 2010 Silver Scroll Awards: The performances.
On the 8th of September the Auckland Townhall was dressed to kill for the APRA Silver Scroll song writing awards. It's the chi chi-est night on the calendar for local musicians and it's a ceremony that has a reputation for delivering memorable live performances. On a stage decorated by hundreds of lamps hand-painted by the artist known as Misery, the five nominees for song of the year all had their tunes rearranged and performed by five diverse ensembles. Karl Steven, lead singer and founding member of Supergroove was the musical director this year and for the first time the winner of the SOUNZ Contemporary Award had their composition re-imagined for the evening. There was also a new inductee to the New Zealand Music Hall Of Fame and the winner of the APRA Maioha award also heard their composition reworked.
