Phillip John Smith on three-day release from Springhill Prison near Huntly never arrives at the address he's supposed to be staying at, arrives in Santiago instead, possibly last Thursday afternoon, but no-one knows that. There's been a major change in the landscape at schools in lower socio-economic areas. We talked about this recently without the benefit of this set of figures. The number of Pakeha children attending schools in New Zealand's poorer communities has halved since the mid-1990s. So many of those schools increasingly cater to Maori and Pasifika children. The high decile schools are seeing a big jump in Pakeha and Asian enrolments.
