Topics - this is a time of year when serenity should reign, but of course it doesn't, everyone's dead stressed, so many of us don't feel like smiling. There's been a ground-breaking - hopefully not the wrong choice of metaphor - ruling by the Employment Court ruling allowing two NZ airline pilots to continue flying until the age of 65 for Cathay Pacific. Outrage after Abbott says women are focussed on the household budget. John Robert Cocker OBE, dead of lung cancer at age 70. A sad day for boomers, for whom Joe Cocker's gravelly voice, infused with Sheffield steel, was such an accompaniment to rock music in the late 1960s and 1970s.
