The Panel with Josie Pagani and Peter Elliott (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 9 November 2017

The Prime Minister is flying to Vietnam for the APEC summit alongside 20 of her global counterparts. It's her first big international meeting in the role. The Trans Pacific Partnership deal will be high on the agenda, as she meets the leaders who will likely be part of TPP11. Ms Ardern is expected to encounter road blacoks as she tried to push her government's changes to the deal, particularly banning foreign buyers in New Zealand. Confidence in the Auckland housing market has plummeted to an 8-year low, with many saying it's a bad time to buy. Many believe house prices will keep rising rather than falling. The same outlook is true for other regions in the country. The panelists discuss why confidence continues to fall. A couple who sold a leaky home has won a Court of Appeal case. Despite intially being held liable for not advising the buyers about the homes problems, a second court found they didn't realise it was leaky. A building inspection was done on the house but failed to find the weather-tightness issue. We talk to Roger Levie, chief exective of the Home Owners and Buyers Association about such a crucial issue could be missed.
