The end of civilisation, kauri trees and other things

A volcanic super-eruption capable of wiping out civilisation may be nearer at hand than we think.

And kauri are headed for extinction because of public apathy and stupidity, says Environmental scientist Professor Peter de Lange.

This is because of kauri dieback, a fungal-like disease with no known cure spread by people and animals.
