A petition to appeal the sentence of Rouxle Le Roux, who hit and killed a teenager with her car, has now gained 100,000 signatures.
Le Roux was sentenced to 11 months home detention and 250 hours of community work after she hit Nathan Kraatskow who was on his bike.
Dunedin barrister Anne Stevens QC explains whether this is a reasonable sentence and whether this petition will see an appeal happen.
