The Panel with Ganesh Nana and Golnaz Bassam-Tabar (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 21 March 2019

A man with Maori ta moko and Samoan tatau has been turned down for a customer service role at Air New Zealand because of his tattoos. Sydney Heremaia says it's not just ink. The works have cultural and personal significance for him. Is it strange that the airline that has a koru as a brand is rejecting workers with indigenous tattoos? Many children and young people have seen the horrendous video - or parts of it - which was streamed by the alleged Mosque gunman. What we're hearing is that many people clicked on whatever came up on their social media feeds, not completely aware of what they were getting into. A teacher at Napier's Taradale High says at least half of their kids have seen the footage. The principal of Auckland's Western Springs College Ivan Davis says his students have been upset but taking things in their stride. Research NZ has conducted a timely poll on the views of people around the main issues of the week - diversity, gun control and social media. Emanuel Kalafetalis says some results were predictable, others a little surprising.
