Free As A Bird              an obvious choice to open our tribute to BIRD SONGS – it was The Beatles 34th Top Ten Single in the US, 25 years after the group broke up. 

Hummingbird               Seals and Crofts with what turned out to be a major hit for the duo in 1972 …

I’m Like A Bird             Nelly Furtado, the Canadian singer/songwriter received rave reviews for this song, one of the most critically acclaimed in 2001 –

Rain Bird             Love And Rockets - a British alternative rock band which took its name from a comic book series.  .

El Condor Pasa (If I Could)             Simon and garfunkel 

Bluebird               Paul McCartney and Wings … with the song he wrote whilst on holiday in Jamaica.

Blackbird             Paul McCartney wrote this about the civil rights struggle for blacks after reading about race riots in the US. He penned it in his kitchen in Scotland not long after Little Rock, when the federal courts forced the racial desegregation of the Arkansas capital's school system.  The guitar accompaniment for this song was inspired by Bach's Bourrée in E minor for lute. This is often played on classical guitar, an instrument Paul McCartney and George Harrison had tried to learn when they were kids. McCartney

And Your Bird Can Sing                 The Beatles with one of the best songs on Revolver I think … the often overlooked And Your Bird Can Sing – with some terrific guitar leads and bass work from Sir Paul.

Birds Fly                       They Might be Giants  The new York band best known for an unconventional and experimental style of alternative music..

Albatross                                 Fleetwood Mac …The albatross appears in the poem The Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner by Samuel Coleridge. Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green read the poem as a child, which gave him the idea for the song.  This song is the biggest ever selling Rock instrumental hit in the UK.
