The Silk Road Ensemble will headline Womad 2019.

There’s also new music from Malian superstar Salif Keita, Ethiopian chanteuse Minyeshu who’s new album Daa Dee is making waves and a new album by The Plaza Francia Orchestra featuring a couple of musicians from The Gotan Project.

And a stunning nine-piece Mongolian ensemble Anda Union, who describe themselves as music gatherers, digging deep into Mongol traditions and unearthing forgotten music.

As it says in their press release, Anda Union are aware of the threat to the Grasslands and their age-old Mongolian culture.

They are driven by their fight for the survival of this endangered way of life, by keeping the essence of the music alive.
