Episode 117 kicks off 2019 with new albums from Gambian kora player, Dawda Jobarteh and multi cultural big band Bokanté + Metropole Orkest who have just released their debut album called What Heat on Peter Gabriel’s Real World label. Also featured is an interview with Mark Graham, a musician and lecturer in the Department of Creative and Performing Arts in Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland, talking about the 50th anniversary In of the album Switched On Bach by Wendy Carlos (released under her birth name Walter Carlos), and the relationship of Carlos and the synthesizer’s inventor, Robert Moog. Switched On Bach went on to sell over a million albums and introduced the synthesizer into mainstream music.
