A man has been arrested and his car impounded after he was allegedly caught driving at nearly 200kmh on State Highway 1 north of Hamilton.
The 21-year-old was stopped by the police while travelling between Taupiri and Horotiu in an illegally modified vehicle on Sunday morning. Police say his vehicle was clocked at 194kmh.
The man's license was suspended and he has been charged with speeding.
