Whangarei police are asking for help from the public in finding two men involved in separate knife-point robberies yesterday.

The first robbery saw a 23-year-old woman confronted by a man with a knife, as she walked through Tawera Park near the skate bowl at about 4.30pm.

He took her cellphone and credit cards and ran off through the park towards Maunu Road.

That robber has been described as dark-skinned, of medium build, about 165cm tall, wearing a blue hoodie and black sunglasses.

A knife was then pulled on a 66-year-old man who was delivering pizzas to a house in Paramount Parade in Tikipunga at about 7pm.

The victim handed over some cash and then took off in his car.

Detective Sergeant Dave Hamilton said police were following up strong leads in the Tikupunga robbery thanks to local residents.

He said anyone with information could contact him at Whangarei Police on 09 430 4500 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
